Expand Your Electrical Installation
Many homes in the Netherlands still have older electrical installations. In the past, households used far fewer electrical appliances than they do today, so older properties were often equipped with only two or three circuits or fuses in the meter cupboard.
With the amount of electrical equipment used in modern homes, this can lead to problems such as overloaded circuits, nuisance tripping and, in serious cases, overheating or fire in the meter cupboard or elsewhere in the property.
Expanding your electrical installation is a practical way to reduce these risks. Additional circuits can be added to the distribution board, or the distribution board itself can be upgraded so that the electrical load is distributed more effectively. This helps reduce the risk of overloading and improves the safety of the installation.
If you are experiencing frequently tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses, expanding the installation may be a suitable solution. By adding more circuits to the distribution board, rooms and high-power appliances can be divided across separate circuits more effectively.
Please note that an extension may also require the existing distribution board to be brought up to current standards. The residual current devices (RCDs) or the distribution board itself may no longer be suitable, in which case a complete replacement may be necessary.
