Connecting plug-and-play solar panels to a wall outlet

Connecting plug-and-play solar panels to a wall outlet requires more than just a plug.

In the Netherlands, solar panels—including plug-and-play models—are required to be connected to a dedicated circuit.

While complete solar panel kits designed to simply plug into an outlet are becoming increasingly available, they remain solar panels that feed generated energy back into the grid.

1 Ensure there is a dedicated circuit for the solar panels.

2 A grounded wall outlet.

3 Use one circuit for 600W; this means a 450Wp panel can be connected to a single circuit, but if you have two 450Wp panels, you will need two circuits.

4. Once the above requirements are met, you can connect the solar panels according to the manufacturer's instructions. However, pay attention to where you install them; for example, a shed roof might sometimes be unsuitable due to the total weight.
